Schneider new software to select trucking providers
Schneider Logistics said it has replaced its SUMIT CVA auction-style transportation-bidding tool for long-term freight contracts with a new software package called BidSmart.
The Web-based platform enables motor carriers to view a shipper’s transportation requirements and bid on individual lanes, or packages of lanes. Carriers are able to enter their rates and service capabilities, create packages and bids, review specific requirements of the freight and analyze the bid results.
Schneider said BidSmart has a new capability enabling shippers to analyze bids in real time.
BidSmart is available to shippers and logistics companies through Schneider’s consulting arm, Transportation Advisory Services.
Schneider acquired the software from Swedish firm Trade Extensions, which specializes in online negotiations.
The Green Bay, Wis.-based subsidiary of the Schneider National trucking company continues to operate and license its SUMIT transportation and supplier management software. BidSmart only replaces the CVA auction process within SUMIT.
