SDDC’s Beaumont operation gets new commander
The U.S. Army’s Surface Deployment and Distribution Command has appointed Lt. Col. Tom L. Clady to head of the 842nd Transportation Battalion located at the Port of Beaumont in Texas, effective Thursday.
Clady replaces Lt. Col. Marshall N. Ramsey, who headed the battalion for two years and has accepted a new assignment at Fort Lee, Va.
Clady recently arrived from Fort Hood, Texas, where he was part of the Army’s Third Corps headquarters.
The 842nd Transportation Battalion is responsible for loading and unloading ships with military equipment at the Port of Beaumont. It also coordinates any related commercial rail and truck activities to move the equipment.
