SDV announced today the acquisition of the business assets of Belgian forwarder, EDT. The majority of the cargo-flows managed by EDT consist of dry bulk cargo to and from Africa. SDV will keep on operating these flows under the EDT name.
“We noticed that some of our customers consider a shift from container-transport to bulk shipments in West-Africa,” Geert De Wilde, chief executive officer Benelux for SDV, said in a statement.
SDV Belgium (Antwerp, Brucargo and Ostend), experienced an increase in turnover of 10 percent in 2013 and handled about 98,000 TEUs and 12,000 ro-ro shipments, the company said.
