Sea Star holding most intermodal charges steady

Sea Star Line will maintain its intermodal surcharges in Florida through February, although the carrier said charges will increase for goods moved from some inland U.S. cities to the carrier's Florida ports.

Sea Star said that for intermodal moves within its Jacksonville and Port Everglades local drayage zones, the Intermodal Fuel Charge (IFC) will remain at $53. For moves between the ports and other Florida locations, the charge remains $145.

But effective Feb. 3 for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Feb. 24 for the Eastern Caribbean, there will be changes to the IFC for some inland cities due to increased costs from both truckers and railroads.

Charges for specific cities are available online at www.seastarline.com/PDF/IFC_011208.pdf.
