Sea Star promotes Ortiz, Lewis

Sea Star Line, the Puerto Rico and Caribbean island trade specialist, has promoted Jennifer Ortiz to district sales manager-Southeast and Pete Lewis to the newly created position of director, Eastern Caribbean sales.

Ortiz

Ortiz joined Sea Star in 2003 and is now responsible for managing the company's field sales efforts in the Southeast region. She is based at Sea Star's Jacksonville headquarters.

'Jennifer has earned this promotion and we are pleased that she has accepted the challenge of an outside sales position. We are extremely fortunate to have her as part of the Sea Star team and we will continue to rely on her business leadership to help us achieve new heights,' said Ned LaGoy, assistant vice president sales.

Lewis

Lewis will be in charge of sales for Sea Star's new service to the Eastern Caribbean islands of Antigua, Tortola, St. Kitts and St. Maarten that begins in July. He reports to vice president of sales Bill Stallings.

'Pete's promotion to manage the sales efforts of the Eastern Caribbean service is an exciting new component of our commercial strategy,' Stallings said. 'Pete's direct experience in ocean carriage, combined with his broad experience across the transportation/logistics spectrum and specific expertise in sales development and the sales process, make him the right choice to lead this effort — and ensure that the direction and organization of our Eastern Caribbean sales group compliments the company's broader objectives.'
