Sea Star reminds customers about new charges Jacksonville-based Sea Star Line said its new port security charge (PSC) and total accessorial charge (TAC) took effect Sunday.
   The charges have not been adjusted since April 2005, the Puerto Rico trade carrier said in a statement. It explained that cost increases have come in the form of assessments by municipalities and port authorities, as well as costs associated with the identification, credentialing and badging process and security-related capital expenditures to make vessels and terminals more secure.
   The security charge for containers and trailers is $95, up from $75. For automobiles, the charge is $21, up from $13. For breakbulk, the security charge is $24 per ton, up from $15.
   The TAC for containers and trailers is $195, up from $175. For automobiles, the charge is $33, up from $25. For breakbulk, the charge is $44 per ton, up from $35.
