Sea Star to raise rates

Sea Star to raise rates    Sea Star Line said it is imposing a 5.5 percent general rate increase, effective June 5.
   The carrier also said it plans to increase its “total accessorial charge” and a fee for hazardous cargo on June 19.
   The fees are outlined in detail here.
   The total accessorial charge will increase $50 per container or trailer to $245. This includes a security charge increase to $120 from $95, a Puerto Rico Authority Charge to $20 from $15, a documentation charge to $50 from $45, and a terminal-handling charge to $55 from $40. There will also be increases for roll-on/roll-off and breakbulk cargo.
   The company said it will also increase its hazardous cargo administration fee by $30 to $130 for container or trailer moving to Puerto Rico and from $250 to $280 for cargo moving to or from the Virgin Islands.
