Seaboard adds new crane at Miami terminal

Seaboard adds new crane at Miami terminal Seaboard Marine has added a second multipurpose crane to its terminal at the Port of Miami, a move that will improve cargo-handling productivity.
The crane is a Liebherr-built LHM 400 with an outreach of 148 feet and a maximum capacity of 115 short tons. The crane is for Panamax-sized vessels and can work a vessel with 13 containers across, depending on the configuration. It can be used for containers, bulk products or pallets.
The LHM 400 moves on tires and can go in virtually any direction, Seaboard noted.
'We are extremely pleased with the reliability of the two Liebherr cranes that we currently own and use at the Port of Miami. However, the crane initially acquired in 2001, a LHM 320, is somewhat smaller and we will soon relocate that crane to another port location. By now having two Liebherr cranes of the same size, we will be able to increase our productivity as one will be brand new and the other is only three years old. The versatility to our operations by having matched LHM 400 cranes should result in improved cargo turnaround and benefit our customers,' said Eddie Gonzalez, Seaboard Marine president.
