Seaboard bolstering container fleet    Seaboard Marine said Monday it added 1,730 containers to its equipment fleet during the final two months of 2005, and it expects to add 900 more by the end of the first quarter of 2006.
   New equipment includes 250 40-foot high-cube refrigerated containers, 400 20-foot dry containers, 680 40-foot high-cube dry containers, and 400 45-foot high-cube dry containers.
   Seaboard said all of the high-cube dry containers are equipped with tracks that can be used to install removable garment hanging bars for apparel shipments, which are a key part of the Caribbean and Central American market served by Seaboard. Reefer equipment is used in the Central America and South America agricultural markets.
   “Most of these containers have been received at various Seaboard depots in the United States and Chile where they have been put to immediate use by customers located near these depots,' said Bruce Brecheisen, Seaboard executive vice president.
   Seaboard said the new containers delivered during the first quarter would be dry containers of varied dimensions. Seaboard also noted that during January it will take delivery of 65 new 'gen-sets,' the power units used for controlling temperatures on reefer containers.
