The service will commence from Jacksonville, Fla. on Dec. 6 and Port Everglades on Dec 7. Cargo will arrive in Puerto Limon on Dec. 13 and Managua, Nicaragua, on Dec. 15, depending on Customs clearance.
The first northbound sailing from Puerto Limon will be Dec. 14.
The service will use 1,100 TEU ships, and the company said it will offer a six-day transit time from Puerto Limon to Jacksonville, which it said will be faster than other carriers.
The rotation is Jacksonville, Port Everglades, Kingston, Puerto Limon, Kingston and Jacksonville.
Through its hub in Kingston, SeaFreight said it will offer the fastest transit times from Puerto Limon to 16 ports in the Caribbean. It said this will open up new markets for Costa Rica and Nicaraguan trade with the region.
SeaFreight said it is partnering with Grupo Tical in Costa Rica and Nicaragua to have dedicated teams of industry specialists to serve the respective trades.
SeaFreight has been providing ocean transportation services for 18 years and operates six 1,100-TEU and two 500-TEU vessels between Florida, the Caribbean, the north coast of South America and Central America.
In addition to the two new markets, the SeaFreight offers weekly fixed-day service between Jacksonville and Port Everglades and Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao, Grand Cayman, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Kingston, Montego Bay, La Guaira, Margarita (El Guamache), Panam', St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Suriname and Trinidad. It moves dry and refrigerated containers and transports breakbulk cargo such has boats, vehicles and machinery on flat racks.
In October it was awarded a lease on a new 25-acre terminal at Port Everglades.
