Seaspan orders five 4,520-TEU boxships destined for “K” Line
Containership owner Seaspan Corp., listed on the New York Stock Exchange, has ordered five 4,520-TEU vessels from Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries and lined up 12-year time charters for the ships with Japanese carrier 'K' Line.The vessels will be delivered from September 2010 to October 2011. They will increase Seaspan's fleet to 68 vessels, including 29 already in operation.
The company will finance the order from a portion of its more than $900 million of new debt financings that were completed Thursday.
