Seaspan’s latest 4,250-TEU ship arrives early
Canadian non-operating vessel charter owner Seaspan Corp. Tuesday received the 4,250-TEU vessel “Lahore Express” from Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., nine weeks ahead of its scheduled delivery date.
The ship is the fifth in a series of nine that will go on charter to CP USA, a subsidiary of Germany’s Hapag-Lloyd Container Line.
Seaspan now has an active fleet of 17 containerships: 15 4,250-TEU vessels and two 8,500-TEU ships. The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company has 16 ships on order — two 9,600-TEU vessels, four of 4,250 TEUs, two of 3,500 TEUs and eight of 2,500 TEUs — due for delivery over the course of the next three years.
