Seimens picks Longview port to deliver wind turbines    Seimens Power Generation has entered a contract with Washington state’s Port of Longview to offload wind turbine components for several Pacific Northwest energy projects in 2007.
   For the port, it’s the first all-inclusive wind energy contract.
   Seimen’s wind turbines are destined to the Klondike III wind farm operated by PPM Energy in Sherman County, Ore. In mid-March, the vessel “BBC India” arrived at Longview with components for 22 of the 44 2.3-megawatt turbines for the Klondike farm. A second shipment arriving at the port in April will deliver the remaining 22 turbines.
   Seimen’s contract with Longview in 2007 also includes wind turbine components for the White Creek Wind Project located in Klickitat County, Wash. This project comprises 89 2.3-megawatt wind turbines. Ships loaded with towers for this project begin arriving at the port in April, with the turbines scheduled to begin delivery in May.
   To accommodate Seimen’s business, as well as other wind energy cargoes, Longview secured an additional nine acres of storage yard, made infrastructure improvements and purchased new Hyster forklifts.
