Service Announcements: Customs and Border Protection

CBP officers at the El Paso, Texas border-crossing stop large marijuana shipment.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said officers at the El Paso, Texas, port of entry on Tuesday seized $1.1 million worth of marijuana concealed in metal compartments specially built in large spools for wound cable. An X-ray exam detected a dense area within the six spools carried on a flatbed truck and a drug-sniffing dog alerted that there were drugs present. It took officers more than 12 hours to cut into the metal compartments and remove the contraband.
