Service Announcements: FedEx Ground, DP World London Gateway, CenterPoint Properties, Delta Cargo and TASCO Berhad

FedEx Ground builds new DC, DP World London Gateway Port constructs third berth, CenterPoint Properties completes intermodal facility, Delta Cargo co-locates with Air France-KLM, and TASCO Berhad opens new warehouse.    Fort Worth Alliance Airport, the world’s first industrial airport, will construct a new distribution center for FedEx Ground. Located in close proximity to FedEx’s southwest regional sort hub, the facility will have more than 300,000 square feet of space and primarily serve the north Fort Worth, Texas area.
FedEx Ground currently employs more than 2,800 people across its six facilities in North Texas and plans to add 375 more workers with the completion of the new center. Specifically, FedEx operates around 600,000 square feet at Fort Worth Alliance Airport and employs more than 800 workers, processing around 100,000 packages a day through this hub.

DP World London Gateway will build a third berth at the UK’s new port, located 25 miles from central London, which will increase deep-sea access for ships carrying UK imports and exports. Scheduled for completion in the second half of 2016, Birth Three will feature 400 meters of quay length and a depth of 17 meters, meaning DP World London Gateway will be able to work the newest ultra-large container ships.
According to DP World London Gateway, the port has 16 million consumers within 50 miles of its location and rail services to 11 destinations across the UK, enabling imports to enter the country closer to key areas of consumption such as London, Birmingham and Manchester, reducing the need for inland trucking and reducing supply chain costs.
Maritime, the largest UK container haulage company, and Pentalver, the country’s leading container solutions company, are also establishing facilities at DP World London Gateway.
“The continued expansion of London Gateway Port proves Britain is a country where companies want to invest,” said Secretary of State for Transport Patrick McLoughlin. “The new third berth announced today will create many new jobs and is a signal that the UK maritime sector is continuing to grow. The maritime sector directly contributes £14 billion to our economy every year and supports more than a million jobs.‎”

CenterPoint Properties has completed construction and now has leases for a 300,000-square-foot facility at its intermodal center property in Kansas City.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service will occupy 104,500 square feet of the building, neighboring Really Good Stuff and UFP Harrisonville in 65,500 square feet, CenterPoint said.
The property is located adjacent to the Kansas City Southern Intermodal facility, with immediate access to Missouri Highway 150 and Interstate-49, and beside the NNSA National Security Campus.

Delta Cargo has co-located with joint venture partners, Air France-KLM at the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, France. The carrier said it make the transfer of cargo more efficient and “offer customers more frequent routing options with the benefits of a broader joint network.”

TASCO Berhad, a subsidiary of Yusen Logistics in Malaysia, opened a new 200,000-square-foot warehouse in Tanjung Pelepas.
According to a statement from Yusen, the warehouse will offer loading/unloading, inventory storage, processing for distribution and delivery management services for the electronic and electrical equipment industries, as well as general consumer goods. The contract logistics provider and air/ocean freight forwarder added the warehouse “will provide services that take advantage of the unique features of the area, including non-resident goods storage and cross-border transportation to Singapore.”
