Shanghai officials appease striking truckers    Port authority and city officials in Shanghai, China, have agreed to reduce fees and fuel surcharges in the wake of a three-day strike by truckers in the port city last week, according to news reports.
   Some of the protests turned violent last week when drivers threw rocks at truckers that had not joined the strike. Reports said the strike, which involved about 2,000 truckers who blocked cargo facilities, has been barely mentioned in official state-run news media outlets. Police cracked down on the violence, but have allowed more limited protests.
   Drivers said they couldn't make ends meet with the new fees on containers and fuel.
   Shanghai is the world's largest port by total cargo volume.
