“This direct service from Hong Kong to Baltimore is unique,” said James Shapiro, vice president of transportation and logistics for Baltimore-based Shapiro & Co., in a statement. “All other consolidations from Hong Kong and Asia break down their consolidations in New York and then move the cargo in bond by truck to Baltimore, Philadelphia and Boston.”
Shapiro & Co.’s new LCL service offers: a 22-day transit through Long Beach, Calif.; cargo stripping within 24 hours after arrival; overnight trucking service within 500 miles; and pick up in China’s Guangdong province.
Shapiro & Co. soon plans to add consolidation services from Shanghai, Taiwan, Germany, and Italy.
