Shipco, Infinity launch import air freight tariff for China Neutral consolidators Shipco Airfreight and Infinity have initiated a co-branded import air freight tariff whereby U.S. freight forwarders are offered the same rates that are accessible in the local Chinese market.

   “Most air freight from China is sold on ‘ex-works’ or ‘FOB’ (freight on board) terms,” said Kim Ekstroem, senior vice president for Hoboken, N.J.-based Shipco. “As such, the decision for whom to use as import carrier lies with the consignee and his broker/forwarder. The U.S. forwarder/broker will then leave it to their Chinese counterpart to shop around for the best deals.
   “This then results in a less than transparent transaction, with the U.S. forwarder relinquishing much of the control,” Ekstroem explained. “With our product, the U.S. forwarder takes back that control.”
   Through the co-branded import tariff, forwarders can either book directly with Shipco in the United States, who will then manage the entire shipment, or have their agent book with Infinity in China.
   Shipco has worked with Infinity, based in Hong Kong, for more than 13 years.
