Shipco starts Atlanta-Gothenburg LCL service

Non-vessel-operating common carrier Shipco Transport will start a direct less-than-containerload service from Atlanta to Gothenburg, Sweden.
Shipco said the service, which uses liner carrier OOCL, will improve transit times from South Atlantic, U.S. Gulf and Los Angeles origins. The biggest transit time improvements will be from Atlanta, now 21 days transit, and Houston with 22 days transit. Transit time from Los Angeles will also improve with 24 days transit time.
“This new service is the natural expansion of our already extensive service package to the Nordic countries,” said Carsten Hansen, Shipco’s European route development manager.
The Atlanta-to-Gothenburg service is Shipco’s twelfth launched this year, for a total of 232 direct LCL export services. “We are on track to reach our goals for new service development in 2012,” said Niels Nielsen, vice president for the NVO’s U.S. LCL exports.
Shipco is a subsidiary of Scan-Group, an international shipping and transportation company based in Copenhagen, and has more than 2,000 employees in own offices worldwide.
