SHIPPING LINES PLAN MOVE TO PORT EVERGLADES    A consortium of five shipping lines plans to move their service from the Port of Miami to Port Everglades in early June.
   The Independent Carriers Alliance (ICA), which comprises Montemar Maritima S.A., Hanjin Shipping, Zim Israel Navigation Co., Senator Lines and CMA CGM, plans to ship 20,000 to 25,000 TEUs annually through the South Stevedoring terminal at Port Everglades, said Stephen Harrington, president of South Stevedoring Inc.
   ICA operates vessels weekly between South Florida and ports on the eastern coast of South America.
   Harrington said that a joint decision by Port Everglades director Phil Allen and the Broward County Commission to offer tariffs competitive with the Port of Miami attracted consortium’s business.
   “The discounts approved by the county commission — combined with the discounts South Stevedoring is offering — have made Port Everglades competitive with the Port of Miami and other East Coast ports,” Harrington said.
