A severe storm in Germany has caused extensive damage, including at the Port of Bremerhaven.

The Web site of Los Angeles law firm Countryman and McDonald, which features news of ship casualties around the world, said its senior correspondent Tim Schwabedissen reported the Norwegian car carrier Hoegh London allided with three ships berthed at the Strom Quay in heavy winds at Bremerhaven on Tuesday evening. It said the Maersk Newark was most severely damaged, suffering ruptured hull and container overboard. The other vessels involved were the 9,991-gross-ton Husky Racer and the Maersk Bintan.
