Short-term delays only impacts from Dennis

Short-term delays only impacts from Dennis Hurricane Dennis did surprisingly little damage to the commercial transportation infrastructure in the Southeast, although it did lead to some service shutdowns and delays on Sunday and Monday.
The U.S. Coast Guard closed the water side of ports from Carrabelle, Fla., to New Orleans on Saturday. Access to the ports of Panama City and Pensacola, Fla.; Mobile, Ala.; Pascagoula and Gulfport, Miss. was limited through 6 p.m. Monday as Coast Guard officials conducted safety surveys of the impacted waterways, and ensured that all aids to navigation could be verified and placed in the correct positions.
Landside port operations were not significantly impacted, and port officials along the Gulf Coast reported only minor damage to some structures and signs.
The Norfolk Southern Railway said it was experiencing some disruptions to train traffic in the states of Georgia and Alabama Monday and that railroad employees were working with local community forces to remove fallen trees and restore commercial power in affected areas.
CSX Corp. said the CSX Transportation (CSXT) railroad ceased operation at 10 p.m. Saturday between New Orleans and Chattahoochee, Fla. in preparation for the storm, and that service was also affected into northern Georgia.
CSXT said it was continuing inspections along its rail network Monday and that service would be restored incrementally as sections of the network were deemed safe for operation.
