SIA Cargo expands services in Japan

SIA Cargo will start all-cargo air transport services to Tokyo's Narita airport via Bangkok and Taipei.

The subsidiary of Singapore Airlines will operate two new freighter services a week between Singapore and Tokyo via Taipei from Oct. 19, continuing into the peak year-end season.

A third weekly freighter service via Taipei to Narita will start on Nov. 6. SIA Cargo will also start new direct freighter services from Bangkok to Tokyo Narita starting on Nov. 3. The twice-weekly services will operate every Wednesday and Friday.

In addition, Singapore Airlines will operate twice-daily passenger services between Singapore and Tokyo Haneda airport from Oct. 31, complementing its existing twice-daily passenger services to Tokyo Narita.

'These new freighter services as well as the new passenger services to Tokyo will further facilitate and enhance the economic ties and cooperation between South East Asia and Japan,' SIA Cargo said in a statement. 'Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan are major trading partners and these additional freighter services will enhance the movement of manufactured goods, electronic devices, food products, machinery and computers between these markets.'
