Singapore Airlines Cargo starts e-freight trials

Singapore Airlines Cargo starts e-freight trials Singapore Airlines Cargo (SIA Cargo) Monday began its drive to replace paper documents with two e-freight trials between Singapore and London, and between Singapore and Amsterdam.
   The airline said it has been preparing the pilot program for several months in cooperation with the International Air Transport Association and has actively engaging with other industry stakeholders such as freight forwarders, ground-handling agents, local customs administrations and airport authorities.
   SIA Cargo plans to start Singapore/Hong Kong e-freight trials from Nov. 16.
   “Pushing for cost efficiency is a key priority for SIA Cargo, and the e-freight initiative will benefit all partners in the air freight supply chain by eliminating cumbersome documentation that costs the industry over $1 billion a year. I thank all the key industry players for their dedication, teamwork and commitment to make this historic project a success,” said Goh Choon Phong, president of SIA Cargo.
   “Moreover, replacing paperwork with electronic information is also in line with our corporate mission to keep our operations environmentally friendly.”
