SJ Consulting adds transportation research team in India SJ Consulting Group said it has opened a research office in Jaipur, India, to support its analysis of transportation and logistics trends on behalf of shippers and freight carriers.
   The Pittsburgh-based consultancy, founded by Satish Jindel in 1993, has seen demand for its strategic, marketing, pricing, operational, and merger and acquisition services increase in recent years along with the rise of international trade and the importance of maintaining lean supply chains. Originally known for its work in the parcel, air, logistics and domestic trucking markets, SJ Consulting has also expanded its reach into the maritime freight industry in recent years.
   Jindel, who was born and educated in India, has hired several analysts to gather data on transportation and logistics companies to further the company’s analysis of industry trends.
   SJ Consulting follows the lead of many large companies that have outsourced technical and computer work to India because of the high-skilled workforce there, but was able to find qualified staff through existing relationships in the country.
   The company has a combined staff of more than 20 persons.
   Jindel began his career as an architect before becoming a transportation planner. He helped manage the start up and expansion of Roadway Package Service and advised FedEx later on its 1997 acquisition of Caliber Systems and subsidiaries including RPS.
