Skinner named logistics company chairman

Samuel Skinner, former secretary of transportation and chief of staff in the first George Bush presidency, has been elected chairman of Echo Global Logistics.

Echo is a virtual third-party logistics provider based in Chicago offering transportation management, trucking and optimization technology.

Skinner previously served as chairman and chief executive of USF Corp., a large motor carrier and logistics company acquired by YellowRoadway Corp. (now called YRC Worldwide) in 2005.

The move reunites Skinner with Douglas Waggoner, until recently CEO of USF Bestway, who joined Echo last month as its top executive.
