Sleight leads U.S. Grains Council

The U.S. Grains Council has named Thomas N. Sleight as president and chief executive officer.
He replaces Thomas C. Dorr, who is retiring. Sleight initially joined the council in 1983 and has served in various roles both in Washington and overseas. After leaving for stints with other agricultural groups, he returned to the council in November 2010 as vice president of operations and membership.
Dorr will continue with the council as a consultant, focusing on a number of long-range initiatives. He joined the council in December 2009 after serving as agriculture undersecretary for rural development in the Bush Administration.
The U.S. Grains Council is a private, non-profit partnership of farmers and agribusinesses seeking to expand international markets for U.S. barley, corn, grain sorghum and their products.
