Smith named president of Rogers & Brown

Rogers & Brown Custom Brokers has appointed Perry 'Pete' T. Smith president.

Prior to his appointment, Smith served as executive vice president of the Charleston, S.C.-based logistics management firm. He also worked as the North American traffic and distribution manager for Hoechst Celanese Corp. before joining Rogers & Brown.

Former Rogers & Brown president Don Brown was named chairman of the company’s newly formed board of directors.

The company promoted a number of other operations managers within the organization. Capers G. Barr IV, formerly head of Rogers & Brown’s international trade consulting division, was appointed executive vice president. Other senior managers remain in place, including Mike Fowler, who is vice president of finance and administration, the company said.

While the company does not publish its financial results, Rogers & Brown plans to double the size of its operations within the next five years.
