The SAECS Reefer Express service uses five vessels, three from Safmarine and one each from MOL and DAL, of 1,200 to 1,800 TEUs in capacity. The rotation is Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Rotterdam, Tilbury, and Cape Town.
According to a Safmarine official, the service was intended to be withdrawn once reefer demand from South Africa dropped off. The last northbound sailing on the service is to leave Cape Town Aug. 20.
