Southern Air gives lift to Saudi Airlines

   Southern Air Holdings and Saudi Arabian Airlines have signed an agreement under which Southern Air will operate one Boeing 747 freighter on behalf of Saudi Airlines Cargo Co. on an ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance) basis.

   The plane will begin operations for Saudi Airlines Cargo in July and will be painted in its livery.

   “We welcome Southern Air to our freighter schedule,' said Fahad Hammad, chief executive officer of Saudi Airlines Cargo, in a statement. 'With their wide selection of widebodied freighters such as B747F and B777LRF, Saudi Airlines Cargo Co. Ltd. will enhance its network coverage.”

   Southern Air operates a fleet of 13 B747 and two new B777 freighters.
