SOUTHWIRE, RAILRUNNER JOIN FORCES

SOUTHWIRE, RAILRUNNER JOIN FORCES    Southwire Co. and RailRunner N.A. have formed a partnership to produce, sell and distribute RailRunner's system which allows intermodal shipping containers to move over the highway or on rails.
   Under the agreement, Southwire Machinery will manufacture RailRunner's intermediate rail vehicles and transition units.
   Under RailRunner's system, an intermodal container or trailer is loaded to a highway chassis. An intermediate rail vehicle links two of the chassis and the transition unit is fitted with couplers to connect the link trailers to a locomotive or rail car.
   Both companies are based in Carollton, Ga. Southwire is one of the world's leading wire and cable manufacturers.
