Spanish prime minister visits Panama Canal

Spanish Prime Minister Jos' Luis Rodr'guez Zapatero Thursday visited the Panama Canal, where he met with Panamanian President Mart'n Torrijos and reiterated his support for the canal expansion project.

Panamanian officials took Zapatero to the Panama Canal Visitor’s Center in Miraflores, where a museum overlooking one of the active locks is located.

“In this moment of economic growth and development for Panama, this ambitious project to expand the canal will further establish Panama as the center of global commerce in Latin America,” Zapatero said.
