Spirit Airlines to offer new Haiti flights Spirit Airlines said Thursday it will begin offering flights from Fort Lauderdale to Port-au-Prince, Haiti beginning March 22.
   Spirit, which earlier this week announced a new service to Puerto Rico, said the new Haiti service will start with three flights a week, increasing to daily service beginning May 1.
   'With the addition of Haiti to our route map, Spirit is continuing to demonstrate its commitment to providing the Caribbean with great, low fare service,' said Barry Biffle, chief marketing officer of Spirit Airlines. 'The nearly 250,000 Haitians living in South Florida and millions in Haiti will have a new low fare option for travel.'
   Spirit uses A319 and A321 aircraft that have belly space for air cargo, in addition to the passenger capacities of 138 and 198 passengers, respectively.
