SPL gives free parts management software

Service Parts Logistics (SPL), one of Africa’s largest information technology parts distributors, has released a new reverse logistics and parts management software called iSuppli – not to be confused with the global market research firm of the same name.
iSuppli will give service providers visibility into their returned parts moving through the supply chain. The company said iSuppli will track these parts from end-to-end in the returns process to help clarify inventory and costs. SPL said the software was developed because customers found traditional ERP systems too limited for this reverse tracking process.
The iSuppli software will be rolled out across SPL’s customer base for free and when integrated with customer systems it will also provide analysis and real-time information on outstanding parts, returns credits, back orders and other key financial details.
Documents in the iSuppli system can be viewed and printed online and include like proof-of-deliveries which enter the system when they are signed and uploaded by SPL’s drivers and couriers.
SPL said it’s integrating this system with its existing ordering API and Web services, allowing customers to find rates online, track shipments and orders, and automate associated processes. The next goal for its software suite is to add integration for ERP and in-house IT systems.
SPL is an authorized parts distributor for Africa and the Middle East for major IT brands like HP, Lenovo, Lexmark, Acer, Toshiba, and Fujitsu. – Geoff Whiting
