In its weekly report, DAT saw that the holiday hangover with the addition of extreme weather throughout much of the country contributed to elevated rates across all equipment types last week.
The national average for vans held at $1.95 per mile, as weather conditions appear to have shifted traffic patterns to alternate hubs such as Buffalo and Charlotte, stated DAT.
DAT’s report showed that from December 2012 to December 2013, van rates increased by 11 percent, flatbed rates were up 4.3 percent, and reefer rates were down 3.2 percent.
