The collapse occurred June 20 near the historic Miami Circle, a 2,000-year-old carving in limestone bedrock that was believed to be created by the now-extinct Tequesta Indians, according to a report in the Miami Herald.
The collapse is not threatening the circle itself, but officials are worried that buried artifacts in the immediate area could be lost in the event of a severe storm or hurricane.
