STB extends hearing to two days
The U.S. Surface Transportation Board has extended a hearing on the “current state of competition in the railroad industry” to accommodate the large numbers of organizations wanting to testify.
The hearings will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday at the STB’s offices in Washington.
Board Chairman Daniel R. Elliott III announced the hearings in January, saying it was “time for the board to revisit the current rail regulatory framework and that is what we are doing. We need to strike a balance between providing access to competitive rail transportation for shippers while maintaining the rail industry's impressive economic renaissance.'
