STI supports Sears? store modernization

STI supports SearsÆ store modernization    Sears has picked supply chain logistics firm STI to support the retailer's nationwide store modernization program for both Sears and Kmart locations.
   STI said Sears' logistics requires a 'blend' of services, including vendor management, packaging and crating development, Web-based visibility tools, and transport optimization to ensure the project was on time and using less trucks than originally planned.
   'We assembled a project team of operations, product process engineers, and account management to tailor a customized standard operations procedure (SOP) for Sears,' said Jim Cass, STI's director of operations, in a statement.
   'For the menswear rollout, we optimized over 200 truckloads of less-than-truckload shipments leveraging STI's 43 distribution centers to reduce the number of truckloads by 20 percent, providing efficiency for the vendors and meeting all delivery dates, damage free,' he said.
