STOLT-NIELSEN ALSO UNDER ANTITRUST INVESTIGATION IN U.S.
London-based tanker shipping operator Stolt-Nielsen said that it is under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice, only two days after it transpired that the company and other European tanker shipping groups were under an antitrust probe by the European Commission and the Surveillance Authority of the European Free Trade Area.
The international investigations focus on illegal competition practices among European chemical tanker shipping companies.
Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group, a subsidiary of Stolt-Nielsen, said that “it is subject to a related investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice and it will also cooperate fully with the Department of Justice’s investigation.”
Odfjell, a Norwegian tanker shipping company, said recently that its subsidiary Odfjell USA Inc. was also under investigation by U.S. competition authorities relating to the chemical tanker market.
