Storey takes honorary role at Hatsu, named chamber of shipping president
Evergreen Group subsidiary Hatsu Marine has appointed Slin Yeh as its chairman, replacing Maurice Storey, who becomes the company’s honorary chairman and from March, president of the United Kingdom Chamber of Shipping.
Yeh was vice chairman at London-based Hatsu. Both Yeh’s and Storey’s new roles at Hatsu became effective Jan. 1.
Storey had been Hatsu’s chairman since December 2003. The 48-year industry veteran in March will become president of the U.K. Chamber of Shipping, the trade association for British shipowners and ship managers. The U.K. Chamber of Shipping has 125 members and associate members who own or manage 730 merchant ships totaling about 18 million gross tons.
“Since the chamber acts as the main focal point for communication between its members and the U.K. government, the European Union, IMO (International Maritime Organization) and other national and international bodies, the 12-month term as president is extremely demanding. I intend to be a very active president,” Storey said.
