Sudan asks U.S. Navy to help fight piracy

Newswire reports Tuesday said Somalia has asked the U.S. Navy to help fight piracy against commercial shipping off the East African country’s coast.

The Somalian government also reportedly asked the U.S. Navy to assist with building a new coast guard service for the country. Somalia has not had a navy or coast guard since 1991.
