Survey finds growing interest in “green” transport

Sixty percent of supply chain executives are measuring their transportation and logistics emissions, according to new report by eyefortransport, a company the produces reports and conferences on transport and logistics issues.

   The company said its Green Transportation & Logistics North American Report surveyed more than 500 North American supply chain executives and found growing corporate commitment to environmental initiatives.

   About 90 percent of respondents think that over the next three years green issues will remain or become more important to their transport and logistics processes, and 9 percent identified green issues as their top priority over the next three years. Only 1 percent expects it to become less important.

   They said their “push toward green was driven by several, with 61 percent citing financial return on investment; 78 percent, public relations payback; 83 percent, improved customer relations; 70 percent, lower fuel bills; 59 percent, improved supply chain efficiency.
