SURVEY SAYS E-LOGISTICS GAINS IN EUROPE

Online logistics networks, exchanges and private Internet hubs are getting a foothold in European markets, according to a new report by Forrester Research.

“As a result of increased international online trade, the use of the Internet to monitor and move goods will grow 15-fold in five years,” said Charles Homs, a Forrester senior analyst.

Homs said there are signs that traditional shipping and transfer exchanges are beginning to lose their grip on the Continent’s B2B market.

The survey predicts that trucking will dominate the European online logistics industry, followed by transport support services.

Airfreight in Europe will be most resistant to online logistics deployment, Homs said.
