Swift appointment at the Maritime Industry Foundation
Capt. Peter J. Swift has been appointed as general manager of the Maritime Industry Foundation, a U.K.-registered not-for-profit charity setup in 2005 by the Round Table of international shipowning associations: BIMCO, the International Chamber of Shipping, Intercargo and Intertanko.
Swift has spent 48 years in the maritime industry with 20 of those years at sea, with command experience on LNG carriers, OBOs and aframax tankers. Shore experience included marine operations and technical management positions with P&O Bulk Shipping Division, Globtik Tankers and Overseas Shipholding Group.
The Maritime Industry Foundation aims to bring together the diverse elements of the international maritime industry to work together and contribute to the foundation’s objectives: “This is to explain the massive and largely unrecognized contribution our industry has made and continues to make to the international community,” Swift said.
