Swiss WorldCargo links Zurich/San Francisco    Swiss WorldCargo recently started its first non-stop scheduled flight from Zurich to San Francisco, effectively doubling its freight capacity to the U.S. West Coast.
   The airline already serves Los Angeles. San Francisco will now be served by Swiss WorldCargo six times a week with belly capacity from widebody A340-300 passenger planes.
   San Francisco is home to many global companies in the high-tech sector, as well as the regional headquarters of several major Swiss corporations.
   'These new services complement our strong North American network and demonstrate our commitment to providing customers with access to strategic global markets with all our range of special products,' said Jack Lampinski, managing director of the Americas for Swiss WorldCargo, in a statement.
   In North America, the carrier already offers daily service between Zurich and New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles and Montreal, complemented by a road-feeder service including Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington and Toronto. The new flights are operated using existing capacity, and were added in parallel to frequency increases on routes to India, South America and Canada.
   'Swiss is one of the few carriers which was able to further expand their network in 2010,' Lampinski said.
