SWISS WORLDCARGO STRENGTHENS OPERATIONS PLATFORM    Swiss WorldCargo, a division of Swiss International Air Lines, has recently signed an agreement with Internet systems developer Global Freight Exchange to provide general and express air-cargo shippers and freight forwarders with “e-booking” capabilities.
   GF-X bookings are now accepted by Swiss WorldCargo’s operations in Switzerland, Sweden, the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Belgium.
   Swiss WorldCargo also concluded an agreement with TRAXON Europe, an electronic-data-interchange (EDI) services provider. The agreement will provide the airline’s freight forwarder customers with EDI communications throughout Europe.
'    TRAXON Europe has about 2,900 forwarders and logistics providers and 80 airlines linked into its systems platform, accounting for more than 90 percent of the world air-cargo capacity. About 70 percent of Swiss WorldCargo’s operational transactions are now handled via EDI, said Markus Vetsch, vice president of operations for the airline’s cargo division.
   In addition, Swiss WorldCargo signed an agreement with ground handler Cargologic in Zurich, Geneva and Bern airports. “The interfaces in any supply chain are the places where most time tends to be lost or quality problems arise. This is especially true of air-cargo hubs, which are asked to handle large volumes of transfer traffic,” the airline said.
