SWISSGLOBAL SECURES INTRA-EUROPE FREIGHTER

SwissGlobalCargo, the capacity management arm of Swiss logistics provider Panalpina, has signed an agreement with West Air Sweden to have a seven-ton Hawker Siddeley freighter stationed 24-hours a day at Germany’s Hahn Airport for exclusive use by Panalpina.

The move marks an expansion of SwissGlobal’s efforts to build a worldwide network of freighter capacity. The carrier is connecting hub operations in Europe, the United States and Asia with dedicated all-cargo flights to deliver shippers time-definite, door-to-door air freight services anywhere in the world.

The small West Air freighter will help SwissGlobal meet the expedited delivery demands of Panalpina customers, such as those using SwissGlobal’s new all.in time-definite services.

“The aircraft means SwissGlobalCargo now has exclusive control over capacity that is available at all times to ship urgent consignments within Europe,” said Wolfgang Meier, director of charter operations at SwissGlobal. “In particular, it will help us meet the steadily rising demands of companies in the high-tech and automotive industries, which often need short-notice deliveries for their just-in-time manufacturing operations.”
