Swissport reorganizes upper management

Swissport International has reorganized its upper management, promoting Joe Phelan to executive vice president and welcoming him to the company’s executive board.
Phelan, who had been in charge of the North American ground handling and cargo departments, will now add the Asian region to his duties.
Juan Jose Andres Alvez has been given the task of overseeing ground handling and cargo in Europe, Africa, Latin America and Brazil. The move means he adds oversight of the entire Latin America region to his duties, relinquishing his responsibility for the Middle East.
As executive vice president of global cargo, John Batten will keep all his prior duties. Phillip Joeinig remains in charge of the Central European ground handling division.
“We have made considerable progress in recent months in enhancing our service quality, efficiency and profitability, and this new structure builds upon that success,” Swissport’s President and Chief Executive Officer Per H. Utnegaard said in a statement. “These changes will have positive effects for our customers and for our own organization, furthering our strategy of pursuing profitable growth.”
