TACA removes Los Angeles congestion surcharge

The Trans-Atlantic Conference Agreement said Friday it will suspend its Los Angeles/Long Beach port congestion surcharge of $200 per TEU Tuesday, but warned that it may have to reinstate the surcharge later.

“The latest assessment shows some relief in delays and improved vessel turnaround times,” the carrier group said. “This allows the congestion surcharge to be suspended subject to further ongoing monitoring of performance.”

TACA said it may reinstate the congestion surcharge on or after April 1, depending on port circumstances at that time.
