Tampa announces completion of new terminal

The Tampa Port Authority and Gaetano Cacciatore said construction of Berth 26 has been completed.

The terminal, at Port Sutton on Pendola Point Road in Tampa, Fla. received delivery of 20,000 tons of white cement from Aalborg, Denmark, on the Norwegian ship 'Star Alabama' earlier this month.

Gaetano Cacciatore is a subsidiary of Aalborg Portland A/S, a Danish cement producer with worldwide operations.

The new terminal at Port Sutton will accommodate two million tons of cement and aggregate materials annually.

In 2006, cement, aggregate and related products used for construction accounted for more than 4.4 million tons of cargo at the Port of Tampa, an increase of 6 percent over the previous year.
